Opening Saving Account in Maybank

bankcardI just opened a saving account in Maybank two days ago which was on the friday. I’m quite surprised of maybank that has abolished the use of account book. On that day I also applied the ATM card and online banking facility. I was quite amazed with the speed of the whole proceeding to open a bank account. It took me almost 2 and a half hours. Oh My God! Luckily I was on my holiday if not I had no patience to wait for such a long time.

Most of the time I was seating on the cozy chair reading book that I brought along with me (thank god I remember to bring a book) waiting for my turn, who to blame? Only two officers who were in charged for opening bank account were present at the counter. Later, the third officer came. I went to the counter when my name was called. Later on, she gave me a Maybank bank card, I was curious, I asked the lady officer “Is Maybank still using account book?” She answered: “Now we don’t use the book anymore, we combined the ATM card with the account so next time if you want to draw money from bank just bring the card.” She continued:”Miss, you please go to the cash deposit machine and put in the money into your account, this is your account no.xxxxxxxx.”

After finished I requested the lady that I wanted to apply online banking facility. She gave me a paper and said:” You follow the procedure here, do it at the ATM machine then you go home online to complete the rest of the procedure.” I nodded then I say thanks to her. Just a few minutes later I went home and completed the rest of the application.

Easy? For your information Maybank is the first bank in Malaysia which provide online banking facility and that is the reason why most of the online shops in Malaysia are using Maybank2U.

Funny Moments with JPA Interviewer

I felt that the three interviewers there were very funny…. sometime they’ll make fun of us, sometime they were joking.

1st Situation

Me: I love reading The Star online..

Interviewer: You like to see the star in the sky?

Me:…..(I try to correct) No, I means I love reading the star newspaper..

Interview: (laughed…nodded their head.)

2nd Situation:

Interviewer: (The doctor talked in soft voice: Shu Jin..Shu Ying(=me)….. Shu Jin you have your twin sister  here?( they trying to make fun with our name which look alike)

Shu Jin: (Looked serious..Shu Jin who ‘really’ has a twin sister Explained) Yes, but she didn’t come today.

Me: I thought a bit funny of it.. because how come the interviewer knew that she has a twin sister… (“Shu Jin you are too serious with the Question  .. Hehehe..”)

Jpa Interview 2

I went to the interview in this afternoon. Well, I was not satisfied with myself. The only thing I wanted to say is be prepared. Better to prepare a script than you ends up mumbling nothing.. There were three interviewers where they will interview you by group (5 persons in a group). My group panel consists of 2 doctors from UM and 1 engineer from JKR (graduated from Ireland). First they ask us to intro ourselves one by one.. name, no. of siblings, ex-school, why you chosen the course, who inspired you (don’t ever mention parents) etc..

Then follow up by question. This session last for 45 minutes. The first question they allow us to do group discussion 2 minutes about what is our opinion with the scholars who were sponsored by JPA they working oversea instead of going back to M’sia. Some say they should pay back the money some say they should be pinalised some say Gov should offer rewards to them so that they would come back to Malaysia.

Everyone had their respective opinions. Then the 2nd question .. Then 3rd Question: How would you overcome the culture differences when JPA send you to study abroad? The first girl and the 2nd girl (me) answered try to tolerate with their culture. Then I don’t know why suddenly it changed topic to” where the country ‘you’ would like to study abroad?” 3 people answered Australia because it is claimed that Australia offer the best Quality of education. While Lin (the first girl) answered she wanted to study medics in Ireland. Since then I noticed that I was the only one who chose a third world country as a country of my choice to study medics which is Indonesia. The panel asked Lin “why you choose Ireland?”  She answered because the quality of education is good, better facility, more dead bodies for practical usage. Then two panels who are the doctors laughed. They talk with each other “why don’t choose India, can get fresh, cheap bodies everyday….

When they asked me to explain why I had chosen Indonesia? Well, I said because the country has large population a lot of accidents happened very frequently and can get to know to all kind of diseases (actually I was blank that time I don’t know what to say..).The undergraduates can train themselves to handle with critical situation.

Among the 5 of us 2 chosen medics who were me and Lin. 1 had chosen dentistry who was Shu Jin. The other 2 , Sin Yin and Fikah(she changed course from medics to pharmacy during interview time) had chosen pharmacy.

At the end of the interview there is an Q&A session. We asked the doctors to share their experience with us…. Well, that was how the interview ends.

Scholarship

I am rather confused about scholarship indeed. Which scholarship i have to apply, how to apply and what course I should apply. I am not a good decision maker. I need to know that a small decision that i make today will make a big difference in my future. My next plan is to study form 6 if my JPA scholarship application for engineering course is rejected. May be I will study medics after Form6. My father looks determined to sponsor me if I pursue my study in medical field. My teacher advised my to apply as much scholarship as possible. But the matter is I am ‘trap’ between two courses the medical course and engineering course. Thus, I need someone to consult me.

Silent Night

The street is brightly lit and the night is silent. The round shaped moon has caught my attention. I tried to capture the night with my camera.

Canon Powershot A1000IS

I just bought a Canon Powershot A 1000IS camera. I received it in good condition from Miyamondo on yesterday 17Th December 2008. Miyamondo suppose to give me bonus gifts including a carrying case, 4Gb memory card and a screen protector. Disappointingly he didn’t give me the carrying case. I tested the camera soon after I unwrapped the packet. I bought this camera at RM630 from Miyamondo, as you know the price is the indication of the quality like a common chinese saying” yi fen qian yi fen huo”. I took many pictures and I found that the image stabilisation doesn’t works very well and the pictures taken a bit grainy (noisy) even at low ISO.

I gave 3 out of 5 star rating to this camera because of the lousy image and camera quality. Addition to this problem I found that it has shutter lag. However I will continue to use it due to its small size (can be slipped into pocket) and faster start up time than my father’s s602zoom Fujifilm camera.

Well, I can say that I regretted of buying this camera but some how I also felt satisfied with it. Because I can bring this camera along with me at at anytime, anywhere. Furthermore it is powered by 2 AA batteries which means I will not worry about the power shortage because the batteries are available everywhere. Later I will be using rechargeable AA alkaline batteries to give it an extra power boost, more shots so that I will not lose any opportunity to take great photos.

Here are some shots taken with Canon Powershot A1000IS:
